Our pets are what make us happier than we are. And usually, we start from one animal in the house and then realize that we can and want to have one more.
It can be different situations: your first pet is a dog, and you want to have a cat also, or vice versa, you have a cat and realize that you need a dog also.The cuddly relationship between dogs and cats is often portrayed as being an ‘enemy’, but what about corgis? The two breeds have been known to get along just fine.
I was curious enough about this topic that I decided to conduct research into it!
Introducing cats and corgi at a young age is especially effective if you can socialize your puppy with a kitten; generally, the younger they are when introduced to each other then it will be easier for them. Making friends becomes much more likely as both parties grow together in their usual everyday lives which gives those early years of co-existing nothing but happy memories!

Why am I so serious about safety? – Because the main challenge of pairing cats and corgis is the sensibility of this dog breed. Corgis have a strong instinct to chase and herd smaller animals. This may initially frighten a cat but may eventually become advantageous. Corgis and cats enjoy hunting and chasing games, so they will start to play together once bonded.
On the other hand, cats usually behave themselves like they are the main heroes in the house. And the new animal will cause a lot of stress, stimulating cats to become more aggressive and agitated then they are.

I am pretty sure that cats and dogs can live together, even becoming friendly. Moreover, I noticed several cases, where inter-species roommates enjoy a friendly relationship. But for this you will need to take steps to make the relationship work, though.
Corgis are, by nature, a hunting and chasing creature. It’s not born of spite or anger; it is their instincts taking over. Cats also have these same tendencies which means they can get into some scuffles too!
But if you meet the needs for both animals (caring enough so there isn’t any fear), then your pet will be happier together with less tension between them in daily life activities like playing fetch from time to time! In this case, you will need to provide all physical activities for the corgi, so it will not be a gap feeling for a dog. From another side, to create a safe environment for a cat. And give them space and time so they can adapt to each other, with no pressure at all.
The preparation is the key. If you prepare your accommodation for a new pet, plan your time to have it enough for each pet separately, and emotionally prepare all your families for the changes – everything should go smoothly.

What Cat Breeds Match Best with Corgis?
If your aim is the fastest and safest way to keep corgis and cats under the same roof, you should also check their match by the breed. As different cat breeds might react absolutely differently. And also, as I wrote earlier, the best solution if you have a kitten, but do not give up, if it is not like that. Because kittens have a lot of playful energy and can easily come into contact with corgis that have a playful mindset all their life.

- Bengal – will always be active and looking for entertainment. A corgi will provide this lovely.
Of course, we are very rough here as every cat differs even with the same breed. Every cat will have its own character, and any of these breeds may be nervous or aggressive. It’s rare, though. Most of the cats above will have no problem living with corgis.

First of all, you are lucky 🙂 No, really, do you see them? Corgis are very cute and sweet 🙂 Ok, let`s to be serious.
The corgi is a great dog for those who want to have their family member with them at all times. They’re not as friendly towards new furry feline families, however; this can be a territorial issue due the protective nature of these dogs and how they see threats in other animals that could threaten their territory too!
I know this will be difficult, but it’s not all; to make matters even more complicated the problem usually occurs if you have an adult dog. Their first meeting must be controlled because things can get unpredictable really quickly between each other!
A corgi might seem like a friendly pooch on the surface (unless he/she happens into one), however these animals are known for being territorial towards others which means any new interloper could cause conflict in our home dynamic – whether we’re talking about harming either party or just causing general irritation as pets do from time.
These days, it’s not uncommon for one dog or cat to show up in a family with another. However the introduction of two can be tricky since both animals have their own routine and preferences that will need adjusting on how they interact together as companion pets!
Then there are those whose personalities differ so much from person-to-person; what works well between you may drive them crazy–or visa versa! -so watch out if things start getting ugly fast (but don’t worry: just like all relationships, take work).
If You Already Have A Cat?
If you already have a cat and think about getting a Corgi as your new family member, know that early socialization is key.
One of the most important things to know about corgis is that they need socialization from an early age. Early interactions with people, other animals and sounds will give them what they need in order for their natural ways of going through life – this includes everything including you!
The most important, when cat and dog are in the same house – to create space firstly for the dog , as dogs usually are more welcoming to cats in their space they get used to. Moreover, you will need some time and effort, so corgi starts listening to you and your commands.
Introduce a cat to your new pup. They can be friends but make sure they’re equally young and playful, so the corgi doesn’t get bored with them too quickly! An older kitty may find this annoying at best, frightening or distressing depending on her personality traits. Don`t worry, and be patient. It is quite normal, if the cat hisses and growls. Give time to your cat for realizing that it is a new creature in the house.
Also, before the first meeting, give a Corgi a long walk with exercises, so the dog will be tired and the first meeting will be less excitable.
Let the animals sniff each other. Stay close in case a fight breaks out. In this case – stop the meeting immediately. But if everything goes smooth – just give them time to get to know each other.
You also can give some treats to each pet to decrease a stress mood, distracting in this way. Keep all doors open, so they can feel safe.
Meanwhile, the corgi starts chasing the cat, naturally. Give it happen, but keep an eye on the cat’s reaction. If it is too aggressive, stop it immediately.
And about the time – the younger both pets are, the faster they will get used to each other.
What To Do When Corgi And Cat Get Into A Fight?
Very important to take attention to the body language of each pet to prevent fights. Below is the small tips for you to understand, when pets are playing or fighting:

Corgis and cats can live together, can be friends and be in safe and calm conditions. But for such results you as an owner need to prepare everything for this.
Also, the best solution is to meet puppy and kitten or older cat with a puppy. It will be much easier to manage with it.
